Visitor's Comments
Mrs Deborah Buswell: "A beautiful, comfortable house in a fabulous location. We used it as a base to watch the Tour de France and it was perfect. Owner and wife were lovely and made sure we were happy with everything and was always available."
Mr Stephen Bough: "We found our every need had been anticipated and catered for. The standard of accommodation was excellent and we won't go to France with anyone else."

Christmas Day at Mas des Hirondelles
The village of Salles
The quaint village of Salles Argeles fosters a fantastic sense of community, which you would expect from this traditional campagne area of the Hautes Pyrenees.
This rural village (600m high) houses two quality family run restaurants serving locally sourced food and wine - two hidden gems. Get there early to avoid disappointment!
Argeles Gazost is located about 5km down the valley from Salles Argeles and is the main hub of the locality. Here you can stroll through the picturesque village and enjoy a “plat du jour” at one of the many restaurants and bars. There are also local supermarkets, which stock all the necessities.
The famous town of Lourdes
Just 13km from Mas des Hirondelles is the pilgrimage site of Lourdes with its world famous grotto and basilica. Every year, thousands of people flock to Lourdes, the place where it is claimed that Our Lady of Lourdes appeared to Bernadette Soubirous in 1858. More information...

Activities around Mas des Hirondelles
There’s certainly plenty to keep active people occupied. The area is renowned for hiking and mountaineering and is popular with the outdoor French. Turn right out of the gates of Mas des Hirondelles and after a minute you reach the beginning of one of the main arterial hiking routes in the area.
In Argeles Gazost, kayaking, rafting and fishing are the name of the game. Tennis is also available as well as exploring the caves and wild life parks nearby.
If you fancy some cycling then you are in good company, as the Tour de France passes through the locality. If golf is more your passion, you will not be disappointed with Lourdes 18-hole golf course situated on the south side of Lourdes Lake amidst the pine forests.
There is certainly plenty to do if you can tear yourself away from the house and it’s pool, spa, gym, steam room, massage chair and cinema room stocked with a 100 DVD’s. And then of course there are the Pyrenees and skiing, in the winter months.
Skiing in the Pyrenees
Cross country skiing is available almost anywhere during the winter season while the nearest ski lifts at Cauterets and Hautecam are just thirty minutes away.
These offer a mixture of beginner blue runs to the more advanced red and black runs. A little further you will find the La Mongie ski resort linked to Bereges, which is home to 69 runs, 43 separate ski lifts and chairs and over 100km of pistes.
